Perspective courtesy of the Naked Mole-Rat and an ever so helpful email.

Well yes lovely emailer,

Thank you for reminding me to get some perspective and that it really could be much worse. Your witty and elegant reminder has changed my whole perspective on life. When I next fall into my self-pitying ways I will remind myself that others do indeed have it worse. I mean at least I am not a Naked Mole Rat. Now that would indeed be much worse than my present situation. Phew. Dodged a bullet right there. I will now rejoice in my blessed and fortunate existence. Thanks again for helping me to pull my head out of my arse.

You're tops

(I honestly can't IMAGINE having it worse than you and I HAVE dysautonomia (among other oddball life altering crap on a cracker...))

    1. Zombie army, I like that! Yeah there are some douchebags around and periodically I get some truly delightful emails. I really should write a post about the woman who constantly emails me about coffee enemas, apparently they'll cure what ails me ;)

  2. It seems perspective is relative! Certainly, before experiencing and eventually being diagnosed with Dysautonomia 5 years ago, I had never before considered the depths that our bodies could go to in conspiring against us. Your blog is a revelation to many, and a constant reminder to me that I am not alone, and with meds and sheer determination I am living my life mostly on my terms, not 'bob's'. There will always be those without compassion, or even a shred of empathy, it is unfortunate that these people also feel they have to add to our struggles by imparting 'wisdom' without any experience of what they are talking about...something about talking through hats?? Anyway, there will always be nay-sayers, but I'm saving my spoons to be supportive and encouraging to those around me and in the blogosphere. Thanks for your posts Michelle, I have been following you since November last year and am very glad I found you, and your inspirational way of living your best life.

    1. Thanks mypaperlessphd. :) You are right, until you become ill it is really hard to understand just how badly the body can work. I still don't understand the need to email me, or anyone else. If you don't like what I say, don't read, pretty simple. Empathy and compassion are definitely not a skill everyone possesses. Gotta laugh though. Sarcasm and snark are quite therapeutic at times :)

All who are lovely enough to comment should be showered with cup cakes, glitter and macarons. I promise to use my spoon bending mind powers to try and get that happening for all who are lovely enough to share their words. Those who go the extra step to share posts should really get a free unicorn. Or at least the gift of finding the shortest and quickest line at the supermarket on a regular basis. xx
