Well it's that time of week again. Time to sort through the fog that is the last week to think of all the times you rocked. Last week was fantastic and so lovely to see all the various things people had achieved during the week. It's amazing what we are all achieving in the face of various difficult health situations.
It's been an interesting week here at Chateau Rusty with a nasty pea-souper invading my brain for much of the past seven days. However this is no impediment to rocking.
This week I rocked because....
- I managed to make a yummy roast vegetable salad, complete with cutting up the vegetables myself. No mean feat when your hands have all the strength of a wet tissue.
- I painted up an old frame to display a postcard I love, that was sent to me by my BIL.
- I coloured my hair and managed to minimise the dying off my forehead and ears.
- I got through a few loads of washing with minimal need to recover.
- I remembered to take all my meds on time all week.
So tell me, how have you rocked this week?
Feel free to share with anyone else who you think may benefit from recognising and celebrating, just how much they've rocked this past week.
Cheers
Michelle :)
And some more motivational music to start you thinking about all the ways you've rocked this week.

I managed to get through a terrifying bout of A-Fib without resorting to calling the paramedics today!
ReplyDeleteThat's huge, Unknown. I hope you are starting to pick up now and getting some rest. It can be a scary disorder at times xx
DeleteMy ex husband came to visit with me and the children (why do we feel/act more married now then before btw?) and I only got sick for 3 days instead of the whole darn week! We went shopping, walked the mall (I wore him out) and we took a long car trip without my having to scream PULL OVER NOW even once! The only reason I got ill at all is because it was my daughter's birthday and I wanted that cake and ice cream darn it.............prices we pay right? We made due and he bought a t.v. series seasons 1 & 2 (game of thrones if anyone cares) and we had a movie and cuddles marathon instead while my poor body sorted itself out again. (Strange he gets it more now then when we lived together?) So it was a great week and the children got to visit with their Dad and no theme park madness like we usually get made it awesome actually.
ReplyDeleteLove GoT Anastasia, have you read the books? So glad you had a good time and that you and your ex seem to have found a happy ground. I'm impressed with a long trip and no sudden pull overs, I know how hard that can be. :)
DeleteI did the weekly shopping at Preston market and made dinner 4 nights in a row (one defrosted and one leftovers...but who cares!)
ReplyDeleteDefrosted or not 4 nights in a row of meals is worthy of a victory dance xx
DeleteI went to my kids cross country events. I have decided that brollies make excellent under-cover walking sticks. Nah, nothing strange about needing two brollies! I can rock that!
ReplyDeleteI like that idea. Not to self: umbrellas make good walking sticks! Congrats on making it to your kids cross country. :)
DeleteWent for my 3 month dental exam and got to keep all my teeth this time! Gave myself a manicure. Relaxed with a detoxing clay foot soak followed by a pedicure. Cleaned out 2 refrigerators. I have not screamed once in the two weeks I have had a kidney stone in my right kidney. Today changed my bed after spilling my broth all over it. The first time I spilled broth today it was on the floor but of course I waited until after midnight to get my bed all messed up.
ReplyDeleteOoo I like that you had pamper time. We all need that. And huge high five to no need to whip out a tooth or two. I hope your kidney stone passes soon but no screaming is amazing give how much they hurt. That red cape is well earned Jane xx
DeleteI rocked this week because after a whinge on facebook (that resulted in some very helpful suggestions) I'm making the first steps towards working from home. Who knows if it will all work out, but it would be awesome if it does!
ReplyDeleteWhinging is what FB was designed for Kate. We all do it. Go you for doing the first steps towards working from home. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you xx
DeleteI stood up to my dr for me taking pain medicine for... shingles! She was scolding me for it and I stood my ground and turned the tables and scolded her for giving me drugs that worsened my already pitiful autonomic nervous system and decreased my blood flow (all in the name of fewer headaches). I told her that there had to be other options.. anyway. I helped coach my sons football team every night this week without needing to lie down during/immediately after practice(twenty 5 & 6 year olds playing tackle football anyone want to help?!) I worked a very stressful day away from the office on Monday so my mom could enjoy one last day at the beach (I worked from the back seat on the car ride home).
ReplyDeleteCongrats for standing up for yourself Portia, it can be so hard to do for a whole lot of reasons. Brilliant that you coached each night this week, that's pretty damn amazing! :)
DeleteHaving a relatively good week: I managed to work lots of local in-season veggies into the last week's meals and snacks. Fajitas, guacamole, salads, fresh herb marinades done with the mortar and pestle. Woot woot! I'm able to put more energy into meals since DH has taken over the shopping. The kiddo has taken an interest in cooking, too--although he isn't old enough to help much, his interest makes the process more fun. Feels like everyone rocked this week.
ReplyDeleteGood food can make you feel amazing. Love when you can get local produce plus in season, good for the hip pocket and the environment. And I agree everyone rocked this week xx
DeleteI high-fived your picture, for the record.
ReplyDeleteLast Friday I helped my friend dye her hair blue (we weren't as successful at not dying her skin, though - we had to try really hard to get the dye off of it haha).
Saturday I helped a friend can applesauce and then danced and got food after! MAJORLY AWESOME DAY.
And then I got to work out a couple times this week and made applesauce all on my own yesterday!
I consider this week a real win. Especially when you throw in the random hours spent in labs or the hospital for tests and the fact that they didn't ruin my week.
HA! Dyed skin is so hard to clean, I use good old toothpaste, mildly abrasive and leaves your head and ears minty fresh! Applesauce, dancing and food sounds like the perfect trifecta! :)
DeleteHaving an extremely rough week, I managed to rock because I made it the end and got to enjoy a relaxing night with friends. I also rock because I ate a lot of ice cream tonight for free at DQ and it tasted great.
ReplyDeleteFree icecream is always a win! Sorry you're having a tough week but am glad you managed to get out for a night with friends :)
DeleteOh my gosh, I love the idea behind this post sooo much! (How on earth did I miss the first edition? No clue, I follow you in my feedreader...that's odd indeed - just glad I saw the second one now!). It's so important to celebrate the good, positives moments that we have amidst the unending stream of rough (to put it mildly) ones that life with CI naturally brings about.
ReplyDeleteLet's see...I rocked because I decided, for the first time in 11 year of being CI, that I would finally risk taking a road trip next month. I wrote two long overdue snail mail letters I'd been trying to have the arm/hand strength to get to for weeks; tried a new food (which did not go down well at all, let me tell you, but at least I tried!), and started thinking/planning about/for the winter holiday well in advance.
Way to go on everything you achieved, dear gal! I am so looking forward to future installments in this inspiring series.
♥ Jessica
I am so happy for you that you are getting to go away even for a short while, Jessica. It can be so hard to do when you have chronic illness as there is so much to plan for and take into account. Making that mental leap to even consider it, can be the hardest part. Sorry to hear the new food didn't work out, but high five for trying. xx
DeleteLove your site! I don't have dysautonomia, but I have physical disabilities.
ReplyDeleteSo encouraging. You Rock!
Thanks Bonnie. You don't have to have dysautonomia to participate. It's open to anyone with chronic illness or disability. :)
